'Building Green Giants': Documenting Eco-Friendly Superyachts
'Building Green Giants' is a documentary I co-wrote and co-directed with Christina Tsangaris, focusing on eco-efficiency in superyachts. It's a project that explores new narratives in the yachting industry, specifically its role in ocean conservation.
Starting the Project
The documentary began as a way to highlight the superyacht industry's role in ocean health. We brought together shipyards, designers, and experts to discuss sustainability in yacht design and construction.We partnered with the Blue Marine Foundation to understand the challenges facing our oceans. The documentary delves into why the superyacht industry is key in promoting eco-efficiency and sustainability.
Understanding the Sea's Importance
Our focus was on the connection between the industry and the ocean. We explored how superyachts can contribute economically and technologically to ocean conservation.
Christina and I led the production from start to finish. We planned, directed, and edited the documentary, aiming to capture the industry's shift towards sustainability.
Premiering at BAFTA 195
The documentary premiered at BAFTA 195 in London, a proud moment for everyone involved.
We also created eight web episodes from the documentary, each highlighting different aspects of the industry's eco-friendly initiatives.
